जटाभुजङ्गपिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभा

कदम्बकुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्तदिग्वधूमुखे

मदान्धसिन्धुरस्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे

मनो विनोदमद्भुतं बिभर्तु भूतभर्तरि || 4

Jata bhujanga

pingala sphuratphanamaniprabha

Kadambakumkuma dravapralipta digvadhumukhe

Madandha sindhu rasphuratvagutariyamedure

Mano vinodamadbhutam bibhartu bhutabhartari || 4

To understand this shlok we need to keep in mind that Ravan is asking:

मनो विनोदम अद्भुतं बिभर्तु,

Mano vinodam‌ adbhutam bibhartu

Meaning : may my mind gets miraculous joy,

By keeping this mind, we will see in which things Ravan is asking to get miraculous joy

 First is

भूतभर्तरि

Bhutabhartari

Meaning : in the upholder of all the living entities

मेदुरे

Medure

Meaning: in the softness

Now softness of what ?

स्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीय

Sphuratvagutariy

Meaning: shiney garments made of skin

Now the skin of what?

मदान्धसिन्धुर

Madandhasindhura

Meaning: the skin of intoxicated wild elephant.

Now again in what Ravan is asking to find the miraculous joy ?

मुखे

Mukhe

Meaning: face

Now in whose face?

दिग्वधू

Digvadhu

Meaning: the face of a bride who is personification of all the directions. Means Ravan says all the directions is looking like a bride’s face and asking may his mind finds miraculous joy.

How is that bride’s face?

कुङ्कुम द्रव प्रलिप्त

Kumkuma drava pralipta

Meaning: it looks like smudged by flowing kumkum.

Why these directions look like smudged by kumkum?

पिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभाकदम्ब

Pingalasphuratphanamani prabha Kadamb

Meaning: the copper like reddish glow coming from jewels in the hoods

Which hoods?

जटाभुजङ्ग

Jata bhujang

Meaning : the hoods of snakes that are on the top of Lord Shiv’s matted hair.

So the complete meaning of this line is:

Ravan says, Lord Shiv is performing a wild and fierce dance, the snakes which are there on the top of his matter hair also swaying in a frenzy.

As they sway rapidly the jewels of copper on their head are throwing reddish light in all directions. This is making all the directions resemble like a face of a bride smudged with kumkum.

Now the meaning of whole shlok is :

Meaning: may my mind finds miraculous joy in the upholder of all the living entities, in the soft softness of shiny garments made of skin of calm wild elephant. And also in all the directions where the reddish light which is emitting from the copper jewels of snake present on the top of shiv’s matted hair and are resembling the face of a bride smudged with kumkum.

श्लोक 4

मुझे उम्मीद है कि आप सभी ने पिछले तीन श्लोकों को अच्छी तरह से पढ़ा होगा और इस अद्भुत रचना का आनंद लिया होगा। साथ ही, मुझे विश्वास है कि इन ब्लॉग्स ने आपको श्लोकों को याद रखने में मदद की होगी। पहले तीन श्लोकों के बाद, हमने यह निर्णय लिया है कि श्लोक का सरल अर्थ हिंदी में भी समझाया जाए। तो चलिए आज चौथे श्लोक पर चलते हैं, जो है:

जटाभुजङ्गपिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभा

कदम्बकुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्तदिग्वधूमुखे

मदान्धसिन्धुरस्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीयमेदुरे

मनोविनोदमद्भुतं बिभर्तु भूतभर्तरि || 4

इस श्लोक को समझने के लिए हमें यह ध्यान रखना होगा कि रावण यह प्रार्थना कर रहा है:

मनो विनोदम अद्भुतं बिभर्तु

अर्थात्: "मेरा मन अद्भुत आनंद प्राप्त करे।"

इसी संदर्भ को ध्यान में रखते हुए, आइए देखें कि रावण किन चीज़ों में अद्भुत आनंद प्राप्त करने की बात कर रहा है:

1. भूतभर्तरि

   अर्थ: सभी जीवों के पालनकर्ता में।

2. मेदुरे

   अर्थ: कोमलता में।अब, यह कोमलता किसकी है?

   
   

   स्फुरत्त्वगुत्तरीय

   अर्थ: चमकते वस्त्र जो त्वचा से बने हैं।अब यह त्वचा किसकी है?

   
   

   मदान्धसिन्धुर

   अर्थ: शांत और मदमस्त जंगली हाथी की त्वचा।

   
   

फिर, रावण किसमें अद्भुत आनंद प्राप्त करने की बात कर रहा है?

1. मुखे

अर्थ: मुख में|

अब, यह मुख किसका है?

दिग्वधू

अर्थ: दिशाओं की दुल्हन का मुख।यानी, रावण कहता है कि सभी दिशाएँ दुल्हन के मुख की तरह दिख रही हैं और वह प्रार्थना करता है कि उसका मन अद्भुत आनंद प्राप्त करे।

वह दुल्हन का मुख कैसा है?

कुङ्कुमद्रवप्रलिप्त

अर्थ: ऐसा लगता है जैसे वह बहते हुए कुमकुम से लिपटा हुआ हो।

अब, यह दिशाएँ कुमकुम से लिपटी हुई क्यों दिख रही हैं?

पिङ्गलस्फुरत्फणामणिप्रभाकदम्ब

अर्थ: सांपों के फनों पर मौजूद मणियों से निकलती हुई तांबे जैसी चमक की वजह से।ये फन किसके हैं?

जटाभुजङ्ग

अर्थ: भगवान शिव की जटाओं में मौजूद सर्पों के फन।

तो इस पंक्ति का पूरा अर्थ यह है:

रावण कहता है कि भगवान शिव एक उग्र नृत्य कर रहे हैं। उनकी जटाओं में जो सर्प हैं, वे भी उन्माद में झूम रहे हैं। उनके सिर पर मौजूद मणियों की तांबे जैसी चमक चारों दिशाओं में फैल रही है। यह दिशाओं को दुल्हन के कुमकुम से लिपटे मुख की तरह दिखा रही है।

अब पूरे श्लोक का अर्थ यह है:

"मेरा मन अद्भुत आनंद प्राप्त करे—सभी जीवों के पालनकर्ता में, शांत और मदमस्त जंगली हाथी की त्वचा से बने चमकते वस्त्रों की कोमलता में, और उन दिशाओं में जहां शिव की जटाओं में मौजूद सर्पों की तांबे जैसी चमकती मणियों से उत्पन्न लालिमा दिशाओं को दुल्हन के कुमकुम से लिपटे मुख की तरह बना रही है।"
